Miss and Teen Requirements

Miss Candidates

Requirements

  • Candidate (1) must be 18 – 28 for Miss America  – birth years 1996 – 2006.

  • Be a Senior in high school, a high school graduate, or have successfully received a GED.

  • Be a United States citizen and live in the state of Florida.

    • Be enrolled in and physically attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university;

    • Or be employed on a full-time basis in the state of Florida.

  • Be a woman.

  • Must have no children - adopted or otherwise - never been pregnant and never married or had an annulment

  • Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.

  • Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.

  • Meet the time commitment and job responsibilities set forth by the Miss South Florida Scholarship Competition.

  • Candidates must meet all additional requirements under the Miss America State and Local Application & Agreement.

 

 

What do Miss Candidates have to do?

  • Perform a 90-second-long Talent, must be an amateur and not under contract with any talent agency or professional agent.

  • Any music must be submitted as a .mp3 file.

  • Have a Social Impact - an issue you are passionate about, volunteer for, or participate in.

  • Write an essay about your Social Impact.

  • Have a photo of yourself for the program.

  • Write an essay about yourself.

  • Submit a copy of your birth certificate.

Outstanding Teen candidates

Requirements

  • Be age 13 – 18 for Miss America’s Teen –  birth years 2006 – 2010

  • Be a United States citizen and live in the state of Florida.

  • Must have no children - adopted or otherwise - never been pregnant and never married or had an annulment.

  • Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.

  • Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.

  • Meet the time commitment and job responsibilities set forth by the Miss South Florida Scholarship Competition.

  • Be successfully enrolled in and physically attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited public or private school, or homeschooled within the state of competition.

  • Candidates must meet all additional requirements under the Miss America's Outstanding Teen State and Local Application & Agreement.

What do Outstanding Teen candidates have to do?

  • Perform a 90-second-long Talent, must be an amateur and not under contract with any talent agency or professional agent.

    • Any music must be submitted as a .mp3 file.

  • Have a Social Impact - an issue you are passionate about, volunteer for, or participate in.
